Ninjutsu TechniqueName: Puppet Technique
Rank: C-rank
Element: N/A
Range: All ranges
Chakra Consumption: Low, Some, Medium, High
Description: The Puppet Technique is a unique ninjutsu fighting style; this technique uses chakra threads to control puppets like marionettes. Any number of chakra threads can be used to control a puppet, but users with more skill can use fewer strings per puppet. Both Chiyo and Sasori demonstrated the ability to control entire puppets perfectly using just one thread. While most puppeteers (傀儡使い, kugutsutsukai) would normally be able to control ten puppets at most (one per finger).
The puppet technique will work like this, as per the time delay found in Additional Information:
Genin (of any Genin chakra level) can use one Puppet at a time. For chakra cost, it will work like this:
Some chakra is paid to initialize the Puppet Technique. Then, Low chakra can be paid to maintain the technique with minimal command lag. However, the Genin can pay Some chakra to maintain the technique with no lag.
Chunin can use two Puppets at a time. For chakra cost, it will work like this:
Some chakra is paid to initialize the Puppet Technique. Then, Low chakra can be paid to maintain the technique with minimal command lag. However, the Chunin can pay Some chakra to maintain the technique with no lag.
Experienced Chunin can use three Puppets at a time. For chakra cost, it will work like this:
Some chakra is paid to initialize the Puppet Technique. Then, Some chakra can be paid to maintain the technique with minimal command lag. However, the Chunin can pay Medium chakra to maintain the technique with no lag.
Jounin can use four Puppets at a time. For chakra cost, it will work like this:
Some chakra is paid to initialize the Puppet Technique. Then, Some chakra can be paid to maintain the technique with minimal command lag. However, the Jounin can pay Medium chakra to maintain the technique with no lag.
Experienced Jounin can use five Puppets at a time. For chakra cost, it will work like this:
Medium chakra is paid to initialize the Puppet Technique. Then, Some chakra can be paid to maintain the technique with minimal command lag. However, the Jounin can pay Medium chakra to maintain the technique with no lag.
Kage can use seven Puppets at a time. For chakra cost, it will work like this:
Medium chakra is paid to initialize the Puppet Technique. Then, Medium chakra can be paid to maintain the technique with minimal command lag. However, the Kage can pay High chakra to maintain the technique with no lag.
All ranks above Kage can use ten Puppets at a time. For chakra cost, it will work like this:
High chakra is paid to initialize the Puppet Technique. Then, High chakra can be paid to maintain the technique with minimal command lag.
Command lag is equal to a few fractions of a second, meaning that your puppets will not move as quickly as your thoughts, and you'll have to make precise timing decisions in order to make your attacks land the way you'd like them to.
The additional paid chakra is treated as upkeep and must be paid per post. Alternatively, if you are using a lesser amount of puppets, you need only pay the amounts that apply to said amount of puppets listed in previous rankings.

- Spoiler:
This technique has few weaknesses: according to Shino Aburame's observations during his fight against Kankurō, the Puppet Technique is a long range style, meaning that the puppeteers are weak against close range fighters. Since most puppeteer use his or her hands to manipulate the puppets, if their hands are disabled, then the technique can be neutralised. And because the puppet's movements are based on the mechanisms that were installed inside, interfering with said mechanisms can stall the puppet entirely.
This was demonstrated by Shino during his fight against Kankurō, where he used his bugs to infiltrate Crow's joints, rendering the puppet immobile, and then again by Sasori, who used the Third Kazekage's Iron Sand to stall Chiyo's mechanical Chakra shields. Also, while controlling the puppet, the user is wide open if the opponent bypasses the puppet. For this reason, puppeteers avoid hand to hand battle, relying almost exclusively on their puppets instead.
Another weakness is that a puppet's movement is dependent on the will of the user, and as such there will be a time lag between the user's commands and the puppet's response.
